Bio:
Carey Landry and Carol Jean Kinghorn-Landry are partners in marriage as well as in ministry. They’ve been ministering together in music and liturgy, religious education, and prayer since 1972. Their music is known and used worldwide. In addition to their music ministry, Carey and Carol Jean serve as hospital chaplains. Carey received a master’s in theology from the Catholic University of America. Carol Jean has a master’s in education from Butler University in Indianapolis.
Best known for their Hi God series of songs for children, Carey and Carol Jean have a longstanding commitment to leading children to Jesus. Initiated more than forty years ago, the Hi God series now includes more than seven volumes, including Hi God: First Communion, released in 2015, and the latest Hi God 7, released in 2018. Of course, Carey has also written songs for public worship—some of the most beloved of our time—including “Abba! Father” and “Hail Mary: Gentle Woman.”
Their grounding in parish ministry enables them to bring to their events a deep sense of what is needed at the parish and school levels. They have given workshops and concerts throughout the US, Canada, Australia, Europe, Ireland, and Scotland.
Carey and Carol Jean are coordinators of liturgical music at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Indianapolis, where Carey directs the choir.
